NSportz organised the second edition of the inter Corporate Premier League Box Cricket Tournament on the 28th Feb at Footbrawl Mega Mall Oshiwara , Mumbai
There were a lot of new teams (7 a side) which found it very exciting to play on the astro turf with declared runs and the bowling and batting power play rules unique to the tournament 12 teams were divided into groups of 3 and after the league matches the top two teams from the group qualified for the quarter finals. . The quarter finals added a lot of excitement with the match between TajSATS and Kotak Indians ending in a tie and the super over being played. Kotak Indians emerged victorious and the TajSATS team narrowly lost out in a gripping match. The other quarter finals resulted in Capita, Indigo Airlines & Mahindra Insurance Brokers Ltd (MIBL) prevailing over S2 Infotech, Fluidtecq 11 & India Bulls Housing Finance respectively. Team Indigo posting the highest total of the tournament cracking 103 runs in their quarterfinal match in 6 overs was the other highlight of the tournament as average match scores were around the 60 - 65 run mark. The semis were an intense affair (although the scorelines may not reflect the same) with Indigo Airlines & Capita wining over MIBL and Kotak Indians. The much awaited final was fought between the best two teams of the tournament - Indigo Airlines set a target of 55 runs for Capita and it proved to be just enough though Capita gave a great fight but eventually lost by 6 runs making Indigo the NSportz Corporate Premier League - 2nd edition champions. NSportz congratulates all the participating teams for a fantastic tournament played in some good spirit. The unpredictable Mumbai weather saw some rain in February but it was not enough to dampen the spirit of the participants, umpires or the organising team. NSportz also thanks the HR / other staff of these companies facilitating the participation of the players, Footbrawl, Mega Mall for the venue & lastly its dedicated team for making the tournament a great success. |
