NSportz Tournaments

NSportz completed the 4th edition of its popular Inter Corporate Box Cricket Tournament on the 5th June 2016, at Mega Mall. On possibly the last Sunday of the cricket season, 12 teams in four groups were battling out on the newly laid astro turf at Mega Mall extending their corporate rivalries on the cricket turf.

Though some of the previous edition winners were missing in the tournament, the competition was at its best as newer teams demonstrated their prowess and gave the established teams a run for their money. The power play rules, the box rules made it a very interesting p

Group A had Motilal Oswal & PPFAS Turtles qualify whereas group B witnessed a tie in points between Tata Power, Anglo Eastern Shipping & Afcons Infrastructure as each team won one game and lost the other in the league stages. Anglo Eastern failed to qualify due to their negative Net Run Rate as Tata Power & Afcons Infrastructure moved ahead. Group C had two debutants CeX We Buy & Johnson & Johnson who fought intensely in their league match before CeX pulled out a narrow win. Johnson and Johnson lost again to Citrus Pay which knocked them out of the tournament. In the match between CeX and Citrus to decide the group winners, team CeX prevailed and this also gave them a direct entry into the semi finals. Standard Chartered Bank emerged as the only qualifier from group D due to the last minute withdrawal of Unidus Services

The business end of the tournament commenced with the quarter finals with team Motilal Oswal prevailing over Afcons Infrastructure and Tata Power winning comfortably over PPFAS. Citrus Pay knocked out Standard Chartered and CeX completed the semi final line up.

The first semi final between CeX & Motilal Oswal was intensely fought with the Motilal Team under pressure due to some quick loss of wickets. Though they recovered to set a decent target for the CeX team it turned out to be inadequate as the debutant CeX team emerged victorious at the end. In the second semi final , Citrus were always under control of the modest target set by Tata Power and they won in style setting up the final match with CeX

The final was a battle of the two C's and it invited the rain gods as well which changed the playing conditions as well. CeX had a great setback by the early run out of their best player and while this put them in pressure, they recovered to set a decent target for the Citrus Pay team. The Citrus batsmen were however in top form and they played very sensibly to set up a fantastic victory

NSportz congratulates all the participating teams for a great tournament played in some good spirit. NSportz also thanks the participants, HR / other staff of these companies facilitating the participation of the players, team Foot Brawl and Mega Mall for the venue & lastly as always, its dedicated team of volunteers for ensuring a smooth tournament.
